Whether you are a hijabi choosing to dress modestly or a non-hijabi choosing to dress modestly…this one is for you! A mini hack. And I think you’re going to love it as it has been an absolute game changer for me.
I’ll give you a bit of a back story as to how this hack came to mind. It was a Sunday and I was having a bit of a clear out. I got to all my upper garment section (tops, blouses, jumpers etc) and I realised how little I was wearing them. I usually wear them with maxi skirts, but I don’t know if it’s just me but after having 3 lockdowns maxi skirts have started to feel like a bit of a faff!? I admit these days it’s too much effort for my lazy a** haha!
I started pulling out all my upper garments and pairing them with a relaxed pair of chinos but I didn’t feel comfortable. I prefer it when my tops/dresses cover my backside and more. If only they were a little longer. I tried putting a dress underneath them to add the length I wanted but again it wasn’t comfortable or practical. There were far too many layers in the upper body part making it almost impossible to move your arms. Then the genius (blowing my own trumpet here but I’m just so happy with this hack) idea of adding a skirts came to mind. Cute skirts. Mini/midi length skirts…something a modest girl rarely ever thinks about! I get it’s a huge contradiction to a modest outfit, but as you can see in the attached photos it really works!
The next time I went out I kept my eyes peeled for cute skirts that worked with the current tops/blouses I had. And here we are today, this hack has given me so many new variations of outfits that are so comfy but also so me! I’ve found getting classic coloured skirts and those with plain fabrics work best as it pairs better with both plain or patterned upper garments. As well as a bunch of trousers. Another tip is to size up as you’re wearing it over trousers and you still want it to sit comfortably!
